Projects
Friends of Athens led projects and other local initiatives
Community Shares Fundraiser, March 17
Support the Community Shares program, a collaboration between The Athens Community Farm and the Gang Greene Farmer Alliance, helping area food pantries by coordinating with growers and producers, raising funds, and delivering fresh food directly to the communities they serve. As a result, local farmers are provided with a dependable sales outlet and funds at a critical point in their growing season while pantries receive consistent and dependable deliveries of hyper-local, nutrient-dense food.
Athens Victorian Stroll
The annual Athens Victorian Stroll is back and will take place on Saturday, December 11, from 1 to 5PM.
Nourishing Community
The Athens Community Farm is raising funds to continue bringing fresh, local veggies to the Athens Community Food Pantry and Rivertown Senior Apartments this fall and winter.
Welcome to Athens!
The Friends of Athens New Neighbor Committee is on a mission to give a warm welcome to Athens’s newest village residents with a personal visit and gift bag of local gift cards and discounts, and other merchandise.
Spring Cleaning
On Saturday, May 1, a team of Athens residents and volunteers set off across the Hudson River to Middle Ground Flats—the island situated directly between Athens and the city of Hudson—for Riverkeeper’s 10th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep.
