Working with Long Table Harvest, the Farm started delivering community shares to the food pantry in early summer 2021.

Since June, the Athens Community Farm has delivered 5 boxes a week, which equates to over 680 servings of fresh, local veggies so far this year.

“Athens Community Food Pantry has been very fortunate to be part of a weekly delivery of fresh veggies. Our pantry guests and residents are able to partake every week and take what they need. We've had so much fun discussing what some of the veggies are and how to prepare them.”

The current CSA program concludes in October, but the Athens Community Farm has the opportunity to extend and expand this popular service through the end of the year with the help of contributions.

Volunteers from the Farm will be picking up and delivering the boxes of produce each week, but is asking for help to cover the cost of the shares. MX Morningstar Farms has offered to donate 1 full season share—which amounts to 8 weeks or veggies for 1 household—for every 10 shares the Athens Community Farm purchase.

The goal is raise $3,600 for at least 10 full shares to meet MX Morningstar Farms’ offer by Thursday, October 22.
